Raphaël Goulet is since 1 January 2017 Head of Unit for public interest services in the Directorate General for internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission.
Before that and since 1996, he has held various positions in the European Commission’s Directorate General for regional and urban policy successively in charge of regional development programmes (ERDF) in Germany and of pre-accession and infrastructure projects (ISPA) in Latvia. He became Assistant to the Director General in 2002. He headed different units since 2007: first as Head of Unit for strategic planning and inter-institutional relations, then Head of Unit for information, communication and relations with third countries between 2008 and 2012, later for Austria, Croatia and Slovenia, and finally for Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.
Raphaël Goulet graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and from the Free University (political science and economics) in Berlin.
