Mark van der Horst is Director EU affairs with United Parcel Service (UPS) in Brussels.
Mark has been with UPS since 1990 and in his current function coordinates UPS’ involvement in EU policy areas such as postal, trade, transport, customs and e-commerce related policy. He has an extensive background working with trade associations, national authorities and European institutions in Brussels representing the Express Delivery Sector. He is a Board Member of the European Express Association (EEA). Additionally, he represents UPS at a number of other business organisations including AmchamEU, ESF and Ecommerce Europe. Between September 2006 and January 2008, Mark worked at the UPS Public Affairs office in Washington DC.
Mark served as the Sales and Marketing Director for UPS Benelux from 1998 – 2000, where he managed UPS’ sales and marketing activities in the region. Prior to that he was a Product Manager with the European Marketing group, where he supported the development of new service offerings for US-EU services and participated in opening UPS operations in several Eastern European markets. He has also worked extensively with the Marketing groups in the Benelux and Scandinavia and at UPS’ European headquarters.
Mark holds a Masters Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel – VUB (Belgium).
